I believe that the preparation I did with Claire Berry was a key factor in my successful application in my consultant job at a tertiary hospital. I had heard from others that applicants are often given very short notice for an interview, so I contacted her soon after the job was advertised to do one preparatory session. This was very useful to allow me to anticipate the type of question that may be asked at interview, and to start preparing a structure to answers that were multi-dimensional. I did a second session with Claire once the interview date was confirmed, and this was paramount to my preparation as the feedback she gave was incredibly practical. I had previously been worried I might get nervous on the day and not be able to answer the questions, but with Claire’s guidance I found I was able to draw on my CV and experience and weave this into my interview. It allowed a systematic approach, not dissimilar to how we approach a medical problem.

I want to thank Claire for helping me get onto a very competitive sub-specialty surgical training program first attempt. I did three Skype sessions with Claire, the first when I was very unprepared, the second a couple of weeks out from the interview and the third the week of the interview.
